Our Mission

Mission
Island Pond Baptist Church is a family of believers united in prayer, growing in faith and committed to scripture.  Our mission is to magnify God and make disciples through Christ-centered worship, teaching, fellowship and evangelism.  (Acts 2:41 - 47).

Christ-Centered Worship

We seek as a church family to exalt the Lord in worship that is joyful, reverent and heartfelt.  We delight in God's glory and in our praises we focus on the royal rights of God's Son, Jesus Christ.  The foundation of worship is laid in His divine character, His gracious attributes, and in every perfection of His nature.  All that we believe and are as Christians, rests on the One who bled at Calvary for us.  There is no truer ground for ceaseless praise in all the world.

Christ-Centered Teaching
Everything in the Bible points to the Person and work of Jesus.  The scriptures are wonderfully Christ-centered and being so, they teach us what it is to live by faith in the Son of God.  Jesus died for our sins, triumphed over the grave, and brought life and light to a world shrouded in darkness.  Each page of the New Testament is emblazoned with the fullness and sufficiency of His saving work on our behalf.  We never move or mature beyond the Gospel of Christ and all that it means to the believer. (Luke 24:25-27).  It is the faith way to God. (Hebrews 11: 1, 6).

Christ-Centered Fellowship
Fellowship means common life.  The life we share as believers is the life of Jesus Christ.  It is an impassioned life with a cutting edge, that is anything but dull and routine.  It is the sole ground for relationships that care.  As Christ loved and served us, we are to love and serve one another (Phillipians 2:1-5).  We are called to be a family because Christ has made us One (Ephesians 4:1-3).  We are to be holy too, because this is why Jesus died (Titus 2:11-14).  Our every thought and action has a bearing on those around us - which is why Scripture does not offer abstractions for living and relating to others - it sets forth Christ, as the consumate example for all godly behavior.

Christ-Centered Evangelism

Saving faith only comes through gospel truth (Romans 10:14 -17). The Bible's Gospel is the "good news" of how Christ on the cross, loved and gave himself for us.  When faithfully shared, it names sin and our own pitiful self-righteousness for what it is, while pointing to the divine life and merits of Jesus - our risen Redeemer!  The Gospel began in God's heart and it utterly saves when it reaches ours.  It matters not what sins we have - in Christ there is abundant pardon and enduring peace.
